Re: We just ain't that good.
If you take the Away games at Arsenal, Man city, Liverpool and Everton out of our points tally last year where would we have ended up?

I can't see us getting them same 12 points again this time, so, perhaps a reality check is due. We are still missing a consistent striker who will give us at least a 1 goal every two matches ratio, until we sort that out (and many, many clubs want that too) we will struggle to win games consistently.

I wonder how Antonio would do in that pure, down the middle frontman role? He's got bags of pace, strength, better than just decent on the ball, can easily beat a player, good in the air - pretty much describes a class striker to me.

Re: We just ain't that good.
The fact is that we are potentially as good or even a bit better than last season. The season and how good we are anyway is measured over 38 games not one or two. All things being equal I expect Bilic to take us to roundabout the same number of PL points as last season. I reckon the difference this time will be that we get our points more evenly spread throughout the table rather than turning over, unexpectedly, the bigger fish.

Let's face some cold hard truths, without Payet we are mid table at best.

What are the chances of them all being fit at the same time though?
Given our luck, never.

We have a good team but a very average squad.

Re: We just ain't that good.
Our good squad just got knocked out of the UEFA cup by a set of no marks. For the 2nd season running. And deservedly so. I think we might have the right to be less than thrilled.

Payet Lanzini Feghouli Ayew Zaza

Different team then.

Re: We just ain't that good.
We have a good squad, but with the amount of injuries to first team players of course we're going to struggle.

Massive knee jerk here.

'And I will keep banging on about the stupidity of selling Tomkins'

You could have ended that sentence thus. Selling him was just daft.

Re: We just ain't that good.
Regardless of whether you care hat were out of Europe or not, the worrying thing is that a team that still had a number of first teamers in it (Reid, ogbonna, Byram, kouyate, Antonio, tore) failed to beat a tin pot shitty Romanian team over two legs. Yes we were missing payet, Lanzini, feghouli and our captain and two decent strikers but we should still have had enough to see them off. That we didn't is purely down to a woeful first half, crao formation that didn't suit the players and players playing out of position. Fletcher came in and did more in 20 minutes than the others put together.

If it highlights to the board how inept we look when a couple of players shirt, then good. Without the extra games I wholly expect obiang to go as we don't need 46 central midfielders and I dare say a few others will follow but we can't keep shutting the door after the horse has bolted - it would be nice if we didn't always wait til deadline day to assess our shortcomings

And I will keep banging on about the stupidity of selling Tomkins if we wanted to make the group stage - having him would at least have allowed us to play him right back in each leg with Byram left to sure things up a bit. We also wouldn't have struggled so much to begin with in the last round. And as Reid and Collins have been shit so far, he would have given us an option

Re: We just ain't that good.
PD, yep, terrible indeed

Club need to take a very long look at their transfer policy as it is not delivering what we needed to go for Europe and a home campaign

Re: We just ain't that good.
We are shit. It's right there infront of your eyes if you open them. There is nothing there, no creavity, no leadership, no goal threat, no passion...fucking nothing.

Face it, we are hanging our hats on Payet for us to have a good season.

AH, that was EXACTLY the conversations heard around me when we were leaving, the club do not deserve the level of support they get, Christ I am so effing angry

As my mate so succinctly put it last night 'Bobby Moore would be turning in his grave after that piss poor performance..you had the chance of European football and you played like it was a Sunday morning kick about.Tossers, you don't deserve the fan base that you have

Re: We just ain't that good.
Fucking spot on

We have a ridiculously assembled squad based on cheap loans, free transfers and players who basically arent that very good

Depressing as fuck

Re: We just ain't that good.
If we are not careful, we could easily end up becoming the next Newcastle, Aston Villa or even Leeds United.

Big Stadium and big fan base don't guarantee success
